Biometric passports: it goes to court

Biometric passport, the disputes continue.

ZUG - The Association Geistige Landesverteidigung "(spiritual defense of the country), which disputes the outcome of the referendum on the biometric passport denouncing irregularities in the procedure of counting of votes, will the canton Zug Federal Supreme Court.

Underlying this decision, the refusal by the Council of State to accept the appeal against the outcome of the vote last May 17.

The Executive of Zug has motivated the refusal stating that the applicants did not address in Canton and therefore can not appeal against the cantonal authorities. But the Association, in a note today, responds by confirming that he had forwarded the application to the Federal Court.

On 17 May, the introduction of biometric passports was approved by 50.1% of voters: the most fought second vote in history. The difference between favorable and opponents had been sunny 5'504 cards.

Against the vote had therefore been forwarded 460 complaints in 22 cantons, some previously discarded. The majority of applicants had used a sample letter available on the Internet by "Geistige Landesverteidigung.
